So, the month of the big event is here.

I have made a slight change to my costume: I will be Sunstorm rather then Starscream, as I figured that if I was going to totally remake my costume I might as well do something original, yes?

So I was recently introduced to the game Warhammer 40,000. I'm hooked.
I just got my first two models an I'm buying a starter army Monday from one of the guys I hang out with.
I'm not sure what to make the color scheme for my army, though. I want them to look cool, but not generic.

Chauvinism or Chivalry?

Where is the difference between the two?
It's easy, actually.
Chauvinism is directly putting down women and their social standing.
Chivalry is drastically different. Chivalry is being polite. Gentlemanly, if you will.

Girls, when a guy opens a door for you he is NOT being Chauvinistic! He is being Chivalrous and you should thank him as he is one of the few males left on the planet who practice it. Few things piss me off more than seeing a girl snap at a guy for opening the door for her! What is this fraggin' world coming to?

Guys, please don't give up! If a chick snaps at you because you opened the door for her, than CONGRATULATIONS! You can cross that bitch off your list of potential dates! I promise you there are girls out there (myself included) that genuinely appreciate it when you open the door!

What sent me off on this rant?

The other day at school a guy in a wheelchair opened the door and held it for me.

If a guy whom is paralyzed from the waist down can hold a door for a girl, why not the rest of you guys?

I was shocked damn near off my feet that day and couldn't think of much else for the rest of the day.

Please, people. Do not confuse Chivalry with Chauvinism!

So we're getting around to the American Revolution now in my History class, and it's gotten me thinking.

Decades ago the American people got enraged and over taxation of things that the British had no right to tax.

What about today?
Our own government is trying to push through taxes on soda for crying out loud, and this doesn't seriously concern EVERYBODY?

They use some crappy excuse that it's because of America's obesity problem, but I call BULLSHIT!
Anyone ever played that game? Fun game. I usually win.
The way I see it, the proposed soda tax is just another sneaky, sly, snake-in-the-grass tactic of our government. They just want another excuse to tax us 'til we're damn broke.

When I was in High School I learned one of the basest rules of economics.

To stimulate a poor economy you lower the taxes! It is NOT the other way around! We are in a recession. There's no easy way to say it. The worst since the Great Depression. It's a fact. So why, I ask the great void, is our government trying to ADD MORE TAXES?

It's just downright absurd!

Ugh.

It seems ridiculous to me that I, a college freshman, can see this so plainly while our elected government officials (poorly elected as they may be) can not! It is their job to know this stuff!

*sigh*

Why do I even bother? Certainly no important government official is going to read my little ole' blog and suddenly get an epiphany from my lowly words of wisdom.

I named my dog after the main character. Literally. Her name is Roxie Hart.
